#Veganuary: Top 5 Tools To Help You

So you took part in Veganuary? Already thinking more about being cruelty free? Look no further than the delights of Leeds. From long established places such as Roots and Fruits (for 20 years to be exact), to the delights of these venues with cruelty free delights such as Bundo Bust, Global Tribe and Humpit: The Hummus and Pita Bar. There are multiple ways to let 2018 be your year of mindful eating and lifestyle.

Not only are there fantastic places in Leeds to dive into, there are also 5 tool to help you on the go- as well as at home to guide you gently into a cruelty free life.

1) Download the app from The Vegetarian Society, which is completely free and gives you access to hundreds of recipes with dietary requirements from gluten free, vegan, vegetarian to nut free and low fat. You can also adapt meal types and recipes specified for preparation time and occasion. Another fantastic thing about this app, you can also save recipes to quickly find your favourites and start cooking! Find out more here

2) If you're also feeling up to the challenge, there are a wider variety than ever before of vegan cookbooks- but our favourite has to be THUG KITCHEN (you will not be disappointed!). From recipes to sauces and the hilarious way it lets you into the world of vegan food is an incredible way of making vegan food even more thrilling.

3) Not just in food, but adapting the way you make choices when it comes to lifestyle is a wonderful more mindful way of becoming cruelty free. Take note of what you use every day. Do you use a plastic toothbrush? How about investing in a bamboo toothbrush which is more environmentally friendly? Do you use a lot of products in your hair, are there cruelty free alternatives? Making small changes to the way you live is a huge step in how we use products and the end result of making an environmental impact.

4) Recycle & Manage Waste! Now, I know a lot of us do this- but are you really mindful of what you throw away? Here in our beauty lounge, we make sure all our products stocked are either vegan/vegetarian and depending on dietary requirements- we are more than happy to help you. All our waste and all of our products are cruelty free, and the waste we make is 100% recyclable (even our food bin is recycled/composted!). Have you checked whether unused/unwanted food in your home may be used in compost or can be given to those in need? Check out your local food banks online too to support (here is one for Leeds!).

5) The best advice to give, is to go at your own pace. No one is judging you if you are struggling to make transitions both dietary and lifestyle. You are doing something important to better the world and yourself- so you will only find encouragement!! Being vegan or vegetarian- or not, making small choices to benefit the planet is something so wonderful. Just do you!!
